Mosquito Mister Systems and Why They Are Important

What is a Mosquito Mister System and Why Do I Need One?

If you’ve ever been to a friend’s backyard party where the mosquitos were ready to carry you away, then you can relate to the need for a mosquito mister system, but what is it? Will it hurt your pets or get on your food and make you sick?

With any new purchase, there are always a million questions, especially when it’s pest control related. You might have children, pets, sickly relatives, or sensitive skin. You have to know what you are exposing yourself and others to.

What is a Mosquito Mister System?

These systems are a collection of tiny spray nozzles attached to tubing throughout your preferred area. Each nozzle is connected to small tubing that feeds from a tank of pesticide. There are many choices in which chemicals you choose, but we use a non-toxic brand at Skeeter Force.

The tubing is small and the nozzles are smaller than your average garden hose nozzle. When installed properly, the systems are discrete and well hidden, but still effective

How Does it Control Mosquitoes?

Mosquito Mister Systems control mosquitos by spraying a fine mist of pesticide at timed intervals to reduce the ability of the mosquito to reproduce. Depending on the chemicals that you choose, you can also control fleas, ticks, flies, spiders, and many other pests around your home.

Some systems are controlled by a switch, some with a remote control. Depending on which system you want, you may have a variety of features that include pre-programmed timer settings that will run when you are not around.

How Harmful are the Chemicals?

Pesticides are controlled by the EPA and your state. Information on the state of Louisiana’s pesticide rules can be found here. If you live in Mississippi, you can read about your state’s pesticide rules here. These are not exhaustive, but they are a good start if you want to learn more about pesticide control in your state.

While some mister systems use chemicals that are a little harsher than others, most are pet and garden friendly. It is recommended that you don’t run your mister system while food, pets, or children are present and always ALWAYS read the label first. These chemicals are governed by the labels, state laws, and federal laws.
